My Ideal Career

When one thinks of having a career, what comes to mind? Money... money always comes to mind when one thinks of what career path they want to follow. I agree that money is a huge motive for choosing a career path, but careers can also consist of many other things. My ideal career would consist of three different things. These things are: traveling, writing and being happy. I really enjoy to travel. I love seeing and exploring places in which I've never been before. I also enjoy writing and am very good at it. Whenever I write, its as if my pen is glued to my paper... because I never stop writing! Traveling and writing bring smiles on my face. I also like to be happy. I have to be happy. I have to enjoy what I'm doing. My career has to make me happy. Making yourself happy is the most important thing in life, isn't it? I'd much rather be happy doing something I love, instead of being miserable doing something I'm not so sure about. I could earn millions and millions of dollars each year, but if I'm not happy with what I'm doing, does this money have any value? If I'm not happy with what I'm doing, what's the point? Why waste time, when you could do something that brings you joy? As long as what I'm doing brings a smile on my face, I'm okay with that. This being said, my ideal career would be journalism. Why journalism? Journalism is my ideal career because it consists of the three things I look for in a career. It includes traveling, writing and it would most definitely make me happy. Journalism is defined as: the activity or profession of writing for newspapers or magazines or of broadcasting news on radio or television. So, I get to travel, I get to write and doing those two will bring me happiness... I'm all set!

12 Year Old Me

Dear 12 year old Joshua,
WOW! What is there for me to say? You've been through a lot and you're only 12 years old. You've been through things most 12 year old's have never been through. For that, I applause you... for being strong when times got rough. I applause you for staying true to yourself, even though you truly don't know yourself yet. There are many things I would like to advise you of. The first thing I want to say, is not everyone who's there at the moment will be there for you today. Many of the people you've come across in your life will NOT stay, guaranteed. People you think are your "best friends" will become complete strangers. People you fall in love with will break your heart. People are and always will be temporary, remember that! Please don't get caught up with friends because NOTHING LASTS FOREVER. One thing I advise you to change about yourself is to not be scared and stand up for yourself. You cannot allow people to walk all over you. If you do, their words and actions will control you. You don't want that, do you? Don't be afraid to express your opinion and don't be scared to speak up for yourself.
